Exploring Drone Education at Yunnan Sports College: A Collaborative Milestone

INA KUNMING YUNAN – We were invited to Yunnan Sports and Physical Education Vocational Technical College, renowned for training international sports talents, including Asian Games champions and Olympic athletes. It was an honor to have Mr. Ma Junlin, Executive Director of the BRICS National Think Tank, Mohammad Akmal Bin Abdul Wahab, Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming, and Mr. Lin, Chairman of De Yi Aviation and Director of UAV Special Committee, join us.

Our Malaysian delegation included Associate Professor Raja Ariffin and Dr. Sofian from the Universiti Malaya, and Mr. Yong, President of the Malaysia Autonomous Intelligent and Robotics Association.

A key highlight was learning that the college is now the nation’s leading drone education and training center and the first approved Civil UAS Pilot License Test Center by the CAAC.

This seminar established a communication bridge between our universities, promoting deeper cooperation in education, culture, and technology. We discussed academic cooperation, student and faculty exchanges, talent cultivation, and collaborative projects, reaching a preliminary consensus.

We had in-depth discussions on Unmanned Aerial Technology and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in civil airspace operations, gaining insights into their commitment to adopting this technology for daily use. We also witnessed over 100 participants in drone certification exams.

This dialogue with key stakeholders enriched our understanding and will help accelerate our adoption of Unmanned Systems and AAM in our airspace.

We witnessed how the drone certification test was conducted with more than 100 participants.
